Featuring smooth, turbine-like V-12 power as standard equipment, the handsomely styled and purposefully luxurious new Jaguar XJ-S debuted in 1976 as the long-awaited successor to the E-Type, which was discontinued after 1974. The new Jaguar is historic, being the last Jaguar developed under company founder Sir William Lyons and the final Jaguar styled by aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, whose design credits include the legendary C- and D-Type sports racers that earned Jaguar five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1950s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boasting formidable performance with refined road manners, the XJ-S would see production through three distinct series over the next 20 years through 1996. Carefully revised for the third and final series, released in May 1991, the facelifted Jaguar was renamed \u2018XJS\u2019 in recognition of its updated front and rear styling. Today, it remains the longest-running model in Jaguar history with a strong collector and enthusiast following as the last Jaguar to offer V-12 power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offered in very nice original condition with just two owners from new \u2013 the second since July 1994, this highly attractive ‘Series III’ 1992 Jaguar XJS V-12 Convertible is offered with a reasonable 88,834 kilometers (55,199 miles) at the time we inspected it. Handsome livery includes the Kingfisher Blue exterior over Saddle Connolly leather upholstery. Only driven in good weather and garaged over winters and when not in use, it is rust-free and in very good condition, notwithstanding some small paint chips to the bonnet (hood) from road use and a small dent to the right-front fender. Factory cross-lace alloy wheels are in excellent, damage-free condition, including the covered spare inside the trunk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 5.3L fuel-injected Jaguar V-12 engine was factory-rated at 280 hp and sends the power to the road through a console-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission. A recent extended test drive confirms the Jaguar\u2019s strong running order with no fluid leaks and no overheating noted at the time. A new battery was just installed in October 2024. Well-kept in garage storage on a Battery Tender when not in use, it starts immediately and settles quickly into a proper idle. Clean throughout including the exterior, interior, engine and engine bay, this XJS also features a handsome MOMO wood steering wheel and the convertible top was recently replaced (Winter 2023\/2024) with the original cloth headliner retained. The power top mechanism works correctly, and the boot cover is included with the vehicle. The original owner’s manual and booklets are included, plus the July 27, 1994-dated sales invoice to the current owner issued by Grand Touring Cars, Toronto, Ontario. One of just 3,674 final “Series III’ XJS 5.3L Convertibles produced in all for 1991-96, this example from 1992 is offered ready to collect, drive, and enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In today\u2019s marketplace, V-12 XJS Convertibles represent startling bargains with a price trend that has held steady around $15k – $20k in US dollars over the past 4 years. Predictably, lower-mile V-12 examples in desirable colors command the higher prices. At $13,500k Canadian dollars for this example, we will call this quality example in unusual Kingfisher Blue paint Well-Bought when it finds a new home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
