🧭 Motorcopia Market Pulse™
Week of September 22–28, 2025
Time for some tasty Yacht Rock and your favorite Chardonnay with Charcuterie on a deck with a nice view of the emerging fall colors…Live-auction activity for last week was relatively light, limited to auctions in England and France, plus the September 25th end of bidding for RM Sothebys’ Sealed Drop auctions, with the latter event’s results still pending publication.
Stateside support came from the wide array of online offerings, which we believe were topped by Bring a Trailer’s completed auction of a 2022 Entegra Cornerstone 45W RV. Carrying an original MSRP above $800k when new not so long ago, this extremely stylish, luxurious, and well-equipped vehicle fetched USD $350K on September 27th. Given the myriad of offerings on BaT, we think this incredible machine was the week’s top sale; However, if readers find anything that sold for more, please do let us and the Motorcopia community know in the comments below. One thing is clear – the current collector- and special-interest vehicle remains strong and diverse, lending confidence for the future.
Here’s the breakdown for last week:
📊 Category Scores & Commentary (0–10)
- Auction Sales Volume – 6.2
Artcurial’s Vernon sale (live, Sept 28) and Hampson’s Bolesworth Castle sale (live, Sept 28) anchored the week’s calendar, keeping late-Q3 volume healthy in Europe/UK. U.S. volume was comparatively quieter. (Artcurial) - Average Sale Price Movement – 5.5
Early indications suggest pricing was steady to slightly soft in sub-€100k/£100k lots; no broad re-pricing event identified across venues this week. - Sell-Through Rate – 5.9
Artcurial’s catalog emphasized no-reserve lots (see below), which typically bolsters sell-through; Hampson’s results page confirms the event and 76 lots, with full line-items gated/posted post-sale. Aggregate sell-through appears mid-60s to low-70s based on composition, pending final tallies. (Artcurial) - Auction No-Reserve Listings – 6.8
Artcurial: “91 véhicules sans prix de réserve” (91 vehicles without reserve price) noted explicitly for the Vernon sale an unusually high proportion that supports liquidity and discovery. (Artcurial) - Pre-Auction Estimate Accuracy – 6.0
European catalogs looked disciplined; no widespread misses flagged yet. We’ll refine once all hammer prices are visible. - Buyer Engagement & Attendance – 6.2
Two live European events concentrated bidders on Sunday, with decent showroom energy reported; online follow-on interest typical for lots priced under six figures. (the-saleroom.com) - Inventory Quality & Presentation – 5.8
Artcurial’s museum/collection mix ran from affordable classics to mid-tier icons; Hampson’s roster at Bolesworth was broad (classic/performance/supercar) with 76 lots offered. (the-saleroom.com) - Dealer-Driven Consignments – 5.4
Dealer consignments moderate; many trade participants remain focused on Q4 positioning ahead of major winter sales. - Private-Sale Activity – 5.7
Private-treaty chatter steady, skewing sub-$200k equivalents; high-end sellers remain selective. - Listing Velocity (Online) – 6.3
Online platforms saw typical late-September listing cadence; no surge, but healthy breadth. - Market Sentiment (Soft Data) – 5.8
Forums/newsletters reflected “watchful neutral” sentiment; liquidity acceptable, risk appetite measured.
📈 Final Weighted Score: 5.93 / 10

Interpretation: NEUTRAL / HOLD – Balanced conditions with auction-led liquidity but no broad price breakout.
🟨 Scoring Interpretation Table
| Range | Color | Signal |
| 0.0–3.3 | 🔴 Red | SELL — Market is soft, weak liquidity |
| 3.4–5.4 | 🟠 Orange | CAUTION — Unstable or declining momentum |
| 5.5–6.4 | 🟨 Yellow | NEUTRAL / HOLD — Balanced conditions |
| 6.5–7.4 | 🟢 Light Green | BUY WATCH — Signals emerging opportunities |
| 7.5–10 | 🟢 Green | BUY — Strong performance and confidence |
🧾 Summary
Late-Q3 2025 closes with orderly markets and solid live-auction pipelines in Europe/UK. The high no-reserve share of auction lots at Artcurial encourages clearing and price discovery, while Hampson’s 76-lot Bolesworth sale keeps UK regional activity engaged. Expect a steady handoff into early Q4 2025, with selective strength noted for well-documented, mid-market cars and continued scrutiny of over-guided estimates.
The market remains balanced as Q4 (Oct – Dec) 2025 emerges, with healthy listing activity and stable pricing. No major breakout or retreat signals. Buyers are patient, sellers are increasingly realistic, and inventory quality is being watched closely. Expect steady conditions preceding the huge January auction dockets in the USA unless macroeconomic or geopolitical shocks occur.
